Pura Ulun Danu Beratan is perhaps the most beautiful temple in Bali. Located on the shores of Lake Beratan in Bedugul, it sits 1,200 meters above sea level, making the air very cool and fresh. When the lake water rises, the temple looks like it is floating on the water. It was built in 1633 to honor the lake goddess, Dewi Danu, who provides water for irrigation across Bali. The combination of the ancient Meru towers, the calm blue lake, and the misty mountains in the background creates a view that looks like a painting.

You have probably seen this place on Instagram! The Bali Handara Gate is a massive, traditional Hindu gate that serves as the entrance to a golf resort. However, it has become famous worldwide because of its spectacular “vintage” look. Surrounded by lush green hills and often covered in a light mist, the gate acts as a perfect frame for your photos. It is a symbol of the majestic and welcoming spirit of Northern Bali.

Just a short drive from the lake, we stop at Wanagiri Hidden Hills. This place offers the best “lookout” points in Bali. From here, you can see the two twin lakes, Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan, from high above. There are many beautiful wooden platforms shaped like bird nests, boats, and swings where you can sit and enjoy the view. It is the perfect spot to feel the peaceful mountain breeze and take some creative photos with the deep blue water below you.

To complete your north adventure, we take you deep into the jungle to find Banyumala Twin Waterfalls. Unlike the busy waterfalls in the south, Banyumala is quiet and very natural. The water flows down in many thin streams over a wall of green moss and rocks, creating two main “twin” falls. At the bottom, there is a large, crystal-clear natural pool where you can swim. The walk down is through a lush forest, making the whole experience feel like a hidden tropical paradise.
